And whether or not you enjoy reading military science fiction or not, the story, which is character-driven and character-based, is still worth a read! Glory Main would be an astonishingly short novel if the survivors never found water, so it shouldn’t be that great a surprise to learn that eventually they do (and here is where O’Neil begins to demonstrate his planetary romance chops). They also discover that they are not alone on what had previously been known to be an uninhabited planet.
